I received a call today from a potential client who called because I'm a Kentucky mortgage broker. I get these calls on a fairly regular basis because some folks in the market to buy or refinance a home have had very good experiences with mortgage brokers and they specifically want to work with a mortgage broker on their next transaction.

That is exactly the conversation today. These folks used a mortgage broker when they bought their home in Florida and he can't help them in Kentucky. They really loved working with their broker so they went to the NAMB (National Association of Mortgage Brokers" website to search for a broker in my market.

I get referrals from real estate professionals, past clients, friends, family, etc. and I love those opportunities to deliver great service and products. It especially does my heart good when I get a call from someone because they are specifically looking for a mortgage broker. Primarily because mortgage brokers took a beating because of the housing collapse. A lot of our sources to place business dried up making it a tough time to be a broker.

Over the last several years wholesalers have stepped up to take the place of the large banks for sourcing brokered loans. And they have stepped up with better technology, products, and service. Mortgage brokers are gaining back market share.  So I love when I ask how someone found me and the answer is "I was looking for a mortgage broker".
